Elevated Minimalism

On Wednesday, I attended Sephora's VIB Rouge Private Shopping Event. As mentioned in my last lookbook  post, I love the minimalist aesthetic and keeping things simple. But sometimes keeping things simple looks sloppy and too casual and that wasn't the vibe I wanted for this event. To keep the look simple yet sophisticated and modern, I built up the outfit with some trendy yet timeless pieces to create a more dressy look that anyone can pull off. Hence, elevated minimalism. The foundational pieces of this look start with a black merino wool sweater and solid black skinny jeans. But in order to dress it up, I added an open bomber jacket to give the look more substance and dimension. Bomber jackets were huge last spring and they will remain a key piece in my closet this season. This look can be dressed down with a pair of runners but to dress it up for the event, I kept my go-to leather chelsea boots. To really tie the look together, I brought my matte black leather tote from Oak + Fort and I think it is this bag that really brings all the pieces together. The matte-black bag, solid jeans, and all-black ensemble make for a sharp, modern outfit that is perfect for spring weather.
